Hair thinning – How You Can Revive Your Hair

Hair thinning is a struggle some of us face. Fortunately there are ways we can improve the strength of our hair.

I myself have struggled with hair thinning as I’ve gotten older. This is due to many factors, eg, previous years of bleaching and colouring my hair, nutrient deficiencies and heat damage.

To regain my hair strength I needed to firstly look at what I was using on my scalp, healthy hair begins on the scalp.

Scalp Health; Why is it important?

  • A healthy scalp ensures proper blood circulation, which delivers nutrients and oxygen to hair follicles.
  • The scalp contains around 100,000 hair follicles, and a healthy scalp provides a good environment for them to produce strong, healthy hair.
  • A healthy scalp provides an ideal environment for hair to grow, without clogged pores or buildup of sweat, oil and product.

So the first thing I did was change my shampoo. I needed something that would specifically address my hair concerns.

The Seward Mediter Reforce range was a great place to start.

I switched my regular heavy shampoo for the Mediter Reforce Fortifying shampoo.

Why?  It contains:

  1. REPAIRING CLEANSING ACTION
  2. VOLUMIZING AND THICKENING ACTION
  3. FORTIFYING ANTI-BREAKAGE ACTION
  4. MICROBIOME PROTECTION
  5.  HYDRATION

While on the topic of shampoo, I addressed how often and how I was doing it.

A lot of people are unaware of the double shampoo system. This is important because the first round essentially rids build up and residue from the hair, while the second will actually cleanse and nourish your strands. I personally find that 2-3 times a week is an ideal wash schedule. Any less will not clean your scalp enough and anymore will rid your scalp of essential oils.

The next thing to focus on is nutrient deficiencies:

The biggest cause of weak hair is low iron and a low protein diet. So by simply incorporating foods high in these nutrients can improve the strength of your hair. Another tool you can use to stimulate hair growth is by doing scalp massages a couple of times a week.

So, in conjunction with targeted hair products, increasing iron and protein,  as well as incorporating a solid hair wash routine – you will be sure to have a healthier scalp.
